Wild Soul Whispers: The future of my blog and newsletter

White Wild Soul script above WHISPERS on a dark green background, minimalist and calm.

Hello lovely readers,

After a summer of heat, I am returning to writing with a renewed sense of passion and purpose.

Wildfires have raged, while climate targets have been missed and ecosystems are collapsing.

Many are feeling grief and despair about the state of our beautiful world, and fear for the future.

A sense of purpose

Amidst this, there is still hope. The UN has said there is still a chance to prevent the worst possible outcomes of climate change, and we have seen that rewilding can restore ecosystems in a surprisingly short space of time.

However, I feel strongly that the only way we are going to instigate change is if we substantially shift the way we relate to the wild world to which we belong.

Words are powerful; they are how we attribute meaning in our lives.

In a culture that celebrates click bait, that's why I am, through this newsletter, offering a slower, more meaningful way of relating.

One where we can delve into the deep and profound questions of our time.

And one that reawakens our deep, often forgotten relationship with the land and can renew our sense of belonging.

A wild plant a day

This week, I have started posting about a wild plant each day on Threads.

The response to this has been overwhelming as 7,000 new followers joined me in a matter of days.

Not just to learn, but to converse,  and to tell me about their own experiences with these wonderful plants.

Reacquainting ourselves with wild plants can do wonders for our wellbeing and sense of belonging.

If we care about something, we are more likely to protect it.

I welcome you to join me on Threads if you would like to join that conversation.

Wild Soul Whispers

Going forward, this blog will play a special role in the Love Wild Plants ecosystem.

It will be where I explore the themes, ideas and the history behind our relationships with wild plants.

It will sit at the intersection between folklore, ecology, policy and depth psychology.

It will feature the ideas that niggle at me as I’m walking down the road.

The questions I think we need to answer as a society.

And an exploration of the bold ways we can change the narratives that have led us into this mess.

Why Whisper?

Today's world is too full of shouting. Absolutes. Overwhelm.

My hope is that my words - or whispers - can contribute towards a quieter, subtle shift within you.

One that empowers you by adding colour, soul and depth to how you see the life growing just outside your door.

Because when we let the wild in, we also meet the hidden parts of ourselves.

And start to understand our place within an interconnected world.

Then, what started as a whisper can grow into something profound.

I look forward to sharing this with you, and welcome your responses and thoughts.

With love,

Amanda
